what I’ve been doing

These are books on The Man’s bedside table. There is always a stack at least this high. I used to remove them everyday and put them back on the shelf. I stopped doing that last year when I began to appreciate what those books say about him. Notice the two different versions of the Bible. He likes to compare things. And the one third from the bottom? That is no book, my friends. That is the 3rd season of The Office. I say all this because The Man has been on my mind even more than usual, as this week we celebrated his birthday. So I’ve been doing that.
Also, we had around 40 high school students over a few nights ago for a leadership interest meeting. Such a cool bunch, they are.
Today, I’ve been working on this. Next week is the much anticipated consignment that I sell things in every year. I pulled some things out of the garage and this is what I end up with. I can’t wait to see what happens when I actually clean out drawers and closets. We have entirely too much stuff.

Am I seriously the first commenter?? Wait…I have to hit publish to savor this.

I’m back. I noticed the two different versions of the Bible right away. And that the 3rd season of The Office is thrown into the mix is classic. It’s as it should be.

Your man must be a lot like my man. Kind of makes a girl feel secure when her husband studies the word of God, doesn’t it?

  4. Imperfect says:

The pile of shoes is all too familiar to me. Bible study on rainy nights would turn our front hall into a soppy, shoe-y mess. Kind fun to see it again.

  5. Nikki says:

You have been busy! Your husband’s reading material looks like my husbands reading.

  6. Scrapper Mom says:

Wow. Looks like you have been busy. Several of us from church have been gathering things for a yard sale next weekend. I usually put things in a consignment sale too…no time this year to get it ready.

The world would be a better place if EVERY man had reading material like that by his bedside. You are one lucky babe! I’m laughin at the pile of shoes. I remember when we had Young Women’s and Young men’s night for our church. There would be a pile of 60 odd pairs of shoes. It ALWAYS made me smile that we could get such large groups of teens together to do things for the church. Life is good isn’t it?

  9. chickadee says:

you removed his books??? i would be so made at my husband if he took my books off my nightstand every day. (would never happen but still).

  10. Laura says:

I think we can all relate to having “too much stuff”!

  11. Karin @ 6ByHisDesign says:

Amen, Sister. I’m purging the house one room at a time. Closet? Check. Where to next??

  12. Denise K. says:

What a busy week you have had! I bet it feels SO good though to sort through things and purge the unused. There is nothing like the feeling of organization! :-) Don’t work too hard and enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

Daaannngg girl you are busy! We’re having a garage sale next weekend…should I be pulling stuff out for it already??

You’re making me feel like a slacker…now knock it off.

  18. Hopefull says:

Wow – Ian Thomas…have not seen that book in a while. I went to the Capenwray Bible school in Europe that I believe he founded. Hey,my man likes to compare version of scripture too and this year for his b-day I got him the Phillips NT and he just loves the way it is written.

  19. Sandy Toes says:

Wow…it is wonderful to see your husband reading the Bible and studying. What is even more is that you have now come to appreciate it and how it reflects him! What a great post! Books are better than “socks”:)!

I just got done with a garage sale. I should have taken a pic of the mountain of girls clothing. Oh my! I like that white boxy thing on your sale table!

  21. The Newbie says:

I love that you have a husband who reads the Bible. If I saw books of any kind on my husbands night stand, I would probably pass out. Maybe the problem is he’s never had a night stand! :) I know what my next purchase will be.

  22. Jaelou says:

Please tell me where this consignment sale is. I have went to yard sales EVERY SINGLE Saturday this summer and have found pretty much NO clothes for my 2 year old. What is everyone doing with their kid’s clothes this year? I’m convinced it must be ebay / church consignment sales.
