confessions

Thanks to my twin skin and permanent muffin top, I have finally perfected the fine art of tucking my tummy into my jeans before I sit down. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, don’t ask questions. Bow your head. Thank the Lord. Say Amen. Don’t look back.)
This is me today, in jeans. Nearly falling off the child-sized chair I’m standing on because I don’t own a full length mirror. That is my shirtless son playing with the Polly pocket car that I just fished out of the toilet. Wonder how it got there? Anyway, I love these jeans because they are so comfortable. Wanna know why?
Because they are made for pregnant women. No, this is not my fun way of telling the world that I am pregnant. It is my fun way of telling the world that I’m a dork who is tired of fighting with jeans. I just want to be able to sit down without tucking. So today, I can. Hallelujah.

That is so funny…I love it! I wore my pregnancy clothers after my births for a long time…they were so comfy!

Our polly pockets have taken a dip or two in the toilet!

  2. Carmen says:

I “get” you…. oh, do I ever get you. Those jeans look great by the way. I may have to venture into the maternity department just for comfort! lol

  3. FeFe@Good Intentions says:

Oh! My favorite jeans are maternity too! They have a mostly regular waistband but the “pocket backings” and the waistband are a stretchy material. Love them and bought them *after* my pregnancies.

  4. Nan says:

Too funny! Maybe I should do that since NONE of my jeans fit! Oh wait, I don’t have any more maternity pants since I sold them all!!! Guess that is why I am living out of two skirts right now! Manly Man is loving seeing me in skirts…me, not loving it as much!

  5. melissa says:

you are hilarious. i can’t believe you’re wearing maternity jeans for no reason but to tuck in your tummy. i think that baby fever might be coming back more than you know! haha.

  6. Jen - Balancing beauty and bedlam says:

I adore you…we’re in this together! One of my favorite skirts AND pants are my maternity ones, and I just cant stop wearing them. (but you in your size one…love ya, anyhow).

  7. Shelly says:

I totally just wore my maternity jeans over the weekend… I don’t have twins, but my little two are twelve months and a day apart. Then I seen my mother, and she asked if I was pregnant… I thought, ‘huh? can you see the top of my pants?’ Then she said that she had a dream that I told her I was. Nope… I don’t think so… LOL

  8. Caroline says:

Hmmmm, thanks for the idea. I despise the muffin top and the saggy baggy belly, except for the fact that they are the reminders of a wonderful blessing which I birthed forth into this world.

  9. Shelby says:

God bless you! I am on pregnancy #4 and I swear that this time I am going to wear my maternity jeans until they fall apart! If that means this kid is graduating high school at the time, so be it! You rock!

  10. megs @ whadusay says:

    You make me laugh!

  11. Mary says:

That’s hilarious–because I’ve worn my maternity shorts all summer because they’re so stretchy/comfy…and come to find out I’m gonna need full-time maternity again soon :0

  12. Mom in High Heels says:

You are adorable. And skinny! Why are you worried about your tummy? You look fantastic!

  13. Anonymous says:

Oh my goodness…30 seconds before I sat down to read your blog I tucked my muffin-top into my jeans. LOL! You are hilarious! I want to be best friends with you. We can sit around in maternity pants and play Barbies or something. Ha ha!!! I keep waiting for high-waisted jeans to come back in, but no such luck.

  14. Tracey says:

Just the other day I was explaining to Ryan about the muffin top/tummy tuck situation. I go back to work on Monday and am freaking out about what to wear. I was trying to avoid the maternity pants but I think its a must. Oh well.

  15. Kathleen aka Coffee Mom says:

So much more comfortable than trying to stuff yourself into regular jeans!

  16. Heather says:

that’s so funny, I was just thinking yesterday that I am due in 29 days with our 3rd and I don’t want to have to go through the torture of finding regular jeans. Now I don’t think I will!

  17. Kimba says:

I wish I could comment with a video of me rolling around on the floor laughing. But if I did that, I might pee my pants since I’ve birthed a couple of babies.

I’m so with you on the muffin-top-tummy-tuck. I would still be wearing my favorite maternity capris if I didn’t loan them out to a preggo friend. Darn her!

And what size are those pants? I’m guessing a 2. Nobody should be able to wear a size 2 maternity.

  18. Jerri Lynn @ Southern Sassyness says:

Ya, seriously! Love all these comments about how tiny you are…you are tiny! What muffin top? I am laughing so hard…cause I truly DO have the muffin top.

  19. Kendra says:

You do have some mad jean manipulation skills. Ninja-like. And somehow your belt loops stay in fabulous shape. I don’t understand.

  20. Debbie says:

I gotta tell you this is funny – I am a nana now – so I guess you can figure they didn’t have those jeans “back in the day” when I had my babies – but I saw some in the store recently and thought – how cool – they look so comfortable – I was about to take a pair to the dressing room, when I saw they were maternity. YIKES!! But now I may go actually try a pair – they look comfy to me.
    Debbie

  21. Wilson Ramblings says:

you are absolutely hysterical! Never in a million years would i have expected this post… then again we’re friends because you’re full of surprises! Okay that’s not the only reason… anyway… love the idea.

  22. Jami @ livelaughlove5 says:

you are a funny girl!! :)

  23. The Powell Family says:

You are hilarious! I love it! Amen to preggo pants. I still wear my black capri cotton pants. Hey, they are just a “little” big. Ha! But WOW comfortable!!!!

  24. ByHISgoodGRACE says:

This is just the best post. Thank you for being…real! I love it.

  25. Mommy says:

That is a riot! Those stinkin’ clothes are so comfy why wouldn’t we want to keep wearing them?

  26. Heather @ Home says:

You just made me fall even more in love with the blog world!!!! I have finally found women who are real, or at least will admit to it. I totally have the muffin top going on, and I felt like I was the only one. I keep saying we as women need to do each other a favor and admit our flaws so the rest of us don’t feel so alone in our struggles. Life is hard enough without beating yourself up. Thanks for keeping it real! :) BTW, found you through The Nester! :)

  27. kimberly says:

ha! can i just say I love you for that! Most people might just talk about wearing maternity pants while no longer in “maternity” mode, but few ppl show it! Hey, I wear cute maternity tops from walmart all the time! I’m tired of all the other shirts stretching across the mountain top of my belly like it is having to reach from one side of the world to another! i havent been pregnant in over 3 years! woo-hoo!

  28. Anonymous says:

You made me LAUGH OUT LOUD!! I am the mother of twins and SO KNOW what you are talking about with the “twin skin”. Your jeans look great!!!!

  29. Barb @ getupandplay says:

They are totally cute, I couldn’t even tell! And you are adorable and skinny!

  30. Girly Stuff says:

I totally wear my maternity underwear as much as possible. It irritates my husband to no end…but they are sooo comfortable!

  31. Tricia says:

    I think you’re brilliant. Maybe you’ll start a trend!

  32. Betsy says:

That is GENIOUS!! I have twin skin and muffin top, too!! :)

  33. Kathleen Grace says:

d here I thought I had to tuck my tummy into my jeans because I am old and fat! You are neither, so that makes me feel so much better! lol Thanks for sharing. You know the real problemis that the jeans are cut too darn low. Yeah, I know, “Mom” jeans are unflattering, but there has to be a happy pair of jeans out there that look good but hit above the muffin top!

  34. Mishel says:

Sometimes a girl just has to do what a girl has to do! Good for you! : )

  35. Preppy Mama says:

Can I just say Amen sister because I was just having this conversation with my girlfriend that we need to go shopping for jeans and my favorite ones are the maternity jeans I wore when I was pregnant with my son. I think I might have to fish them out of the maternity bin…just because!!

  36. Carly Winborne says:

I LOVE THIS POST! I have the same issues. Someone recently suggested I try Spanx to help out with the muffin top. My thought? What’s the point of wearing comfy jeans when you are “sausaged” into a turniquet?

  37. Tracey says:

    /you are a freakin genius!

  38. Heather says:

And this is why I love you. Seriously. Yes, I do know what it’s like to tuck the twin skin into my pants when I sit down. I know it quite well.

  39. Kathryn says:

LOL!!!! Found your blog when you were guest poster on your sis’s blog. Now I’m hooked. I read you for a little dose of fun and reality. Just wanted to ‘introduce’ myself so I can’t be named as one of your ‘lurkers’ anymore. :)

  40. Mama's Losin' It says:

    Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

  41. Amy says:

You are too funny! You’ve have made a move into comfort that we all so want to achieve! Props to you!

  42. Christie says:

I love it! I have a pair of maternity khakis that I still wear…and my daughter is two now. They seriously are the most comfortable. I wish they would make non-pregnancy pants with the wide elastic waist!

  43. Denise K. says:

Oh you are so cute, and have such a darling figure, I think you look fantastic; maternity jeans or not! My youngest is 7 years old, so it’s too late for me to pull out jeans with a panel…I am going to need to buckle down and lose the weight I have been promising myself I would…or maybe I just need to borrow a pair of maternity jeans! hee hee

  44. Sissy says:

That is so funny! And smart! And brave of you to share it with us. The pics are so you.

By the way…I have a little present for you. When can I swing by?

  45. Debbie says:

I saw on your sister’s blog that you had gotten rid of 30 toys…and now we know where they are…in the toilet.

After 11 kids, I wear my muffin tin as a badge of honor (plus when you’re surrounded by adorable children, they distract people from looking at your stomach.

  46. The Hinesley House says:

You look great but that is too funny! I am going to go buy me some maternity pants to wear too. You are right, they are very comfortable.

  47. Anonymous says:

thank you, thank you, thank you….(btw I have never made a comment before on anyone’s blog)

  48. emily says:

Anonymous! Yay for commenting! Who would’ve thought that a post about twin skin and a few handfuls of muffin tops could get you to comment for the first time ever! Thanks for the honor and I hope you’ll be back :)

  49. duchess says:

What a great idea! I wonder why I didn’t think of it?

It’s the perfect answer. Now I’ve just got to find some.
You have just made my day!!
    thanks.

  50. Meghan says:

I thought I was the only one rockin the maternity clothes & my son is 2!!
I wear a pair of capries to bed & then I have "flowy" pants that I wear to work.

I say, you paid enough for them & the are comfy so go for it!

  51. My Three Girls (The A girls) says:

oh…I might go dig out that box of maternity clothes. I ditched them as soon as my baby was born in dec. I do have a pair of pants that just had a regular band that I was keeping in the closet for this winter. They are velvet and super cozy. Maybe I will try them on.

  52. Julie says:

I am laughing so hard b/c I DO know what tucking in before you sit means!!!! 36 and four kids later, I am thinking you are on to something worth trying. Only I can imagine my 14yr being horrified but then there is the idea of not worring if my “front butt” is hanging out! Great Idea!

  53. Valarie says:

Never thought about that! That is an absolutely brilliant idea! I have been getting the shirts that a slightly flared and am afraid I look pregnant. Now I could just get the jeans and wear a not prego looking shirt and actually not looke pregnant! Brilliant!!

  54. anne says:

DYING here. I’m currently pregnant, and just got these amazingly comfortable jeans that I’m considering keeping out for months to come after this baby…
    :)
Oh I feel you on the muffin top…no twins for me but a 10 lber. did the trick!

  55. Bonita says:

This is a funny post. But dear heart, I’ve seen your skinny little body and what on earth could you possibly have to tuck???

  56. Hoots says:

Thanks for the admission of twin skin! The left over reminder of 9 months of stretching, stretching, stretching! Mothers of singletons will just never understand!

  57. Pink Dreaming says:

i’m loving you! thanks for the giggle!

  58. Buzzings of a Queen Bee! says:

You are awesome and hilarious and I LOVE that you are wearing maternity pants. I am wearing mine too, actually AM pregnant, but plan on wearing them for a LONG time after…they are so comfortable and it is nice not to have to pull up the pants every time you want to sit down!
    Carrie

  59. Breanne says:

LOL – I know what you mean. I might make teh switch.

  60. Amy B says:

I started saying “Amen” from the first sentence and just kept going! That was awesome!

I gotta get me some of those jeans!

…although I do wonder what the salesperson will think if I do. :)

  61. Brooke says:

Now I am wishing I still had any of my maternity pants left. You are so funny!! And tiny!!!!!!

  64. Suzy says:

:D hahahahaha:D You made me laugh, so funny but I know that feeling just too well. Few moths ago I almost got a nervous break down when I was on a quest for a pair of jeans.
Your jeans look fantastic and that it is a great idea to buy a jeans for pregnant woman. Why not people are any way always asking me what month I am in! :D

    Suzy

  65. Debbie says:

I’m with Suzy. We want full disclosure! Where did you get the jeans?!

  66. His Girl says:

I am thinking I need some of that action. twintummytuck-in jeans are a BRILLIANT idea.

(btw, bow your head, say amen, indeed!)

  67. onlymehere says:

You’re a very beautiful THIN woman! I think you look great. Babies do alter our bodies and they just are never the same. Good thing my husband didn’t marry me for my body! LOL!!

  68. Little Towhee says:

Oh my gosh! This is such a helpful hint to me! I had twins back in June (my 4th and 5th kids), so I know ALL about twin skin. Now, I have an answer. I love to wear jeans, and have been fighting the muffin top myself as of late.

  69. Kyla says:

You know . . . I’ve always thought those maternity jeans were some of the most comfortable things ever. Those look super on you, by the way! Luckily I’ve slimmed down too much for any of my maternity jeans to fit, but I may just have to go in and purchase a smaller size, just for fun and comfort! ;) Way to use what you’ve got . . . and I don’t think you’re a freak at all! ;)

  70. Emilie Nichole says:

I thought I wasnt going to have any more kids after two… (obviously that is out the window) but I still kept a few maternity clothes because they were SO much more comfy than my regular stuff! I too had a muffin top before it turned into another watermelon
