Attention all you awesome ladies who have thought about attending She Speaks but aren’t sure if there are enough quarters in the piggy bank: this post is for you.
Lysa TerKeurst is hosting a scholarship opportunity on her blog again this year for one lucky participant to attend She Speaks for free! Just visit her blog today for details.

Now, there may be some of you out there who are kind of like me last year: you like the idea of going and something about this type of conference gets your heart rate to speed up. BUT you are hesitant to sign up because you don’t know anyone, you don’t consider yourself a ‘real’ writer or a ‘real’ speaker and you don’t have a clear plan as to what will come of it.
I understand. I went last year without knowing one. measly. person. And this borderline introvert did just fine. There are a lot of women just like you who have it in their heart to write, speak or do some combination of both but have no idea what that means. I’m still discovering what that means for me. But I will honestly tell you that this conference was a turning point.
For example, I was excited to attend a session called Magazine Writing 101 taught by Glynnis Whitwer, Editor of P31 Magazine. She? is awesome. And I’m pretty sure she would not allow a question mark in the middle of a sentence. Writing articles for magazines always felt so intangible to me: where to even begin?! But the session was informative, smart and so helpful to me. And I’m pleased to say that since last year, I actually submitted an article and it was actually and factually published.

One of my favorite things about She Speaks last year was the opportunity to meet so many new robot friends in real life and discover that they are vibrant, emotional, beautiful women with real lives, real kids and real faith.
And hey, I’ll be there with The Nester, BooMama, Big Mama, Jo-Lynne and Dawn, chatting it up about blogging and pretending to be a grown up. And of course there will be all the Proverbs 31 speakers, as well as publishers and seasoned authors and Santa Clause and ALL his reindeer.

If you have already registered for the conference (yay!), visit Dawn at Barefoot Blogs and grab one of these cute buttons for your sidebar. If you want to know more about the conference, visit the conference web site. Now head on over to Lysa’s blog and try to get that scholarship. I hope to see you there!

I am so stinkin’ excited!!!!! Can’t wait!
It would be such fun! I’ll have a newborn so I’m pretty sure I’m counting myself out of the fun for this year. I’ll be having fun…just not that kind of it. I’ll be sleep deprived, wearing pajamas all day, and eating a bland diet. Y’all enjoy!
I’m going!!! I am so very excited. I went to Blissdom without knowing anyone and let myself get overwhelmed. I’m really looking forward to going to this ministry-focused event AND not letting my self-conscious self get the best of me! AND, I had no idea how I could afford it, but my company is paying for me to go – which is COMPLETELY unexpected and a HUGE blessing!
I hope to meet you there!!
Oh you have me intrigued Emily!!! I will think about this as it sounds like such a fantastic opportunity! You and your sister will do a fantastic job speaking…just think about how much your blogging audience loves you, and the real life audience will be just as warm and welcoming too! Hmm…now you have us all wondering…what kind of article did you write and can we read it??? Good for you and congrats on such a great accomplishment!!! With love from Colorado, Denise
I’m new here, Emily. This may not be the most appropriate post to out myself, but it is the most recent, so there you go.
I spent 30 minutes last night (while I was nursing the baby back to sleep) reading through your archives. There’s some good stuff there. I copied and pasted a bunch of quotes to think about as time allows. (Which, given the fact that I have three kids under 7, probably means when I’m 55. But I’m OK with that.)
Thank you for sharing your gift. Thank you for letting us know about Lysa’s contest. (I’d love to go, but having young children and no family nearby makes it hard. But maybe I’ll enter and leave it in God’s hands, eh?) And thank you for bettering the Internet with this lovely blog design. It’s so clean. I’m weary with my busy one. White space. I need some white space.
I’ll be there regardless – scholarship or not. It’s decided….yep, we’re going on a God watch.
Those pictures are so good! See you there girl.
Sounds like great fun! I first heard about this conf last year through Lysa’s blog but haven’t yet SERIOUSLY considered going. Hmm, something to chew on for this year!
I can’t thank you enough for letting us know! I’m working on my post. And maybe I’ll get to see you there!
I’ll be there again
I hope that I can get over my introvert tendencies and focus on what God wants me to get out of this conference. I don’t think I prepared my heart adequately last year. We’ll see what comes of this year!
And yay, I got a Mac! So I can totally video chat with you and The Nester while we’re in the same room
I’m so excited!!! I can’t wait to see y’all there.
