In the midst of recitals, graduations and other end-of-the-year events, our little family took a short break to the mountains this weekend. I took lots of pictures, as you can imagine. But this one stood out the most. Because this is what moms do on family vacations. We hold half-empty juice boxes. We cherish weed flowers. We sit on the swings and watch. And we are thankful for a few simple days away to be with them.

Mister Linky and I have been chatting it up for the past day or so about the fact that my blog, though lovely, is stubborn and resistant to change. In other words, the Linky isn’t working for me and we’ve yet to figure out why. I’ve noticed he is fickle on other blogs this morning as well. But I promise, mine is especially not working. If you have a moment you would like to unwrap, feel free to share your permalink in the comments section.

Love that picture!!!! That is one of my favorite flowers of all time!
First of all I love your picture, and how true is that! I’ve often been the holder of a half empty juice box (or two), and the recipient of those little yellow wonders. What a gift we are given…
Secondly, Mr. Linky is on my naughty list as well
I’m happy to “unwrap” in the comment section! This week was an intentional gift that held many unexpected ones.

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Emily, I’m sorry to say that I don’t have a moment to unwrap (not one with pictures, anyway) but as I sat at the pool and watched my kids swim yesterday, I thought of you and how blessed we all are that you encourage us to unwrap moments that could so easily slip by unnoticed. I remembered back to times swimming all day at my neighbors’ pool and eating frozen strawberry Charleston Chews and holding club meetings in my brother’s room with bowls of raisins and wishing summer would never end.
I always smile when I see you have something new to share. Thanks for making my rainy Tuesday sunny.
Dear Emily,
I’m unwrapping a feeling in today’s post:

Thank you for encouraging us to reflect. And for giving us space to share the reflections. You are a blessing.

I got some of those lovely flowers this weekend, too! They’re better than a dozen long stemmed roses anyday.

Hers my Tuesday Unwrapped and proof I exist.
I’ve been waiting for this all morning. I just love reading everybody’s stories.

Hi Emily,
My blog has started having Mr. Linky troubles, too. He’s a VERY fickle guy.
This week, I unwrapped how my children own my heart — it no longer belongs to me.

how fondly i remember handing my own mom bouquets of dandylions or violets… and it meant the world to me when she would arrange them just so in a little glass. tuesday is fast becoming my favorite day… thank you.

I just found you through another link. I like this site. User friendly, despite the problems you’re currently experiencing. You will work out the kinks. Just what is Tuesdays Unwrapped? I shall have to look back and see if I can find out. A new one to me. But I don’t have a Tuesday meme!

I got my first dandelion bouquet from my son this weekend! So sweet! These are the moments that I pray I never forget!
technology, it is a love/hate relationship.

thank you, Emily, for hosting this despite the frustration with Mr. Linky.
Emily, love your photo – it does look SO familiar. Here is my link for Tuesday’s Unwrapped: http://erine.typepad.com/eckenrode_family/2009/05/showing-up.html
Emily, I love the way you capture the most ordinary moments of life and remind us that they are the most special ones of all. Beautiful!
My special moment this week came on Thursday night. I had just gotten in bed and turned out the lights in my hotel room. I was due to speak for three sessions at a conference the next day. My daughter, who knew I was quite nervous about it all, sat on my bed in the dark. She ran her fingers through my hair and said these words that I’ll treasure forever, “Mommy, I’m so proud of you because you’re so brave.”
With those precious words in my mind, I knew I could scale a mountain if I had to do it. I was reminded that they are always watching us, even in the hard places, maybe even more so then.
I love my precious girl!
Hi Emily. I have often wanted to join in with your Tuesdays Unwrapped but never can get myself organized and diciplined enough to be prepared and proactive about looking. I tend to continue rushing through trying to “get by”.
Just know that you are encouraging me and continuing to set an example that I am striving to be ready to meet.
If you follow the link below, you will see that I have noted you in my blogger appreciation posting. I just wanted you to know that you are impacting a lot of people (in this particular instance, me) even though you may not know it.
Happy Tuesday.
Shannon

This is my Tuesday: http://kat-reflections.blogspot.com/2009/05/nothing-is-everything.html
As far as Mr. Linky, I can’t even figure out how to get that pink Tuesday’s Unwrapped button. I’m pretty pitiful. If you could direct me in the obtaining of that pretty little button, it would be most helpful
Sometimes a tiny little dandilion can mean the world
Here’s my Tuesday Unwrapped, about my Husband and I’s super fancy anniversary dinhttp://thisoldhenhouse.blogspot.com/2009/05/tuesdays-unwrapped_26.htmlner
OK Emily, trust me, this IS unwrapping for me! With my husband still being out of a job I was really fretting about how to give my sweet Sara Jane a beautiful 10th birthday. You have to understand me to understand the challenge of doing it on a tight budget. Emmeline’s first birthday party included live ponies parading up and down our street. Are we clear?
Here is how I unwrapped birthdays… Birthdays are about the time and effort that you spend celebrating your beloved one, not the number of times you swipe a card or write a check. In a way, I am thankful that we have been thrust headfirst into living on a small budget. I realized the joy that comes with being able to truly celebrate.
Love you Emily – thank you for doing this. I’m still missing the twins SO much and every single week I look forward to you helping me remember how very blessed I am.

I love it when Kiddo comes in with a handful of violets and dandelions. He just wants to give me something beautiful, and believe me, it’s more than the flowers!
Here’s my linky link.

oh – loving Bonita’s story….
Don’t worry Mr. Linky isn’t liking my blog today either.
My Tuesday’s moment was definitely unwrapped but it came in the form of sheer bedlam.
this week i feel very special to have received my grandparent’s wedding china http://www.itsfrugalbeinggreen.com/2009/05/vintage-fine-china.html
Thanks for making it work anyway Emily! Can’t wait to see your photos. Here’s my link to Tuesdays post: http://www.findtimefortea.com/2009/05/beauty-in-mundane.html
Can’t wait to read everyone else’s:)
Hello Emily!
I’m back for another great Tuesday at your blog. Sorry Mr. Linky is being a troublemaker. nevertheless, I still wanted to participate.
http://tooblessed2stress.blogspot.com/2009/05/dreaded-blank-wall.html
I just love the photo with the precious weed and juice box. It is a photo of life in all of it’s simple, precious and amazing glory. Thanks for sharing.
Stop on by if you get a chance!
Blessings, Emily from too Blessed to Stress
What a neat photo, and absolutely so typical! I finally got on the ball enough to post this week, though I’ve been enjoying this feature since the start.
http://problemsolvinmom.blogspot.com/2009/05/tuesdays-unwrapped-mommy-let-me-see.html
Didn’t get to “unwrap” today, as I needed to make a more “newsy” post about DH’s cancer treatment, but I hope to be back at it next week!
Awwww! My son has just started bringing me weed flowers, and it just melts my heart every time he comes in with one. I always put it in a bud vase by my kitchen sink. If I don’t, he always wants to know where my flower is. LOL
Dandilions are the best flowers to receive, because they are usually from the sweetest person!
http://happymommykristi.blogspot.com/2009/05/tuesday-post.html
I would love to know the setting that you used to take this pic!!
I love your photo. What a moment captured in a simple photo.
I didn’t think you were doing it because of the tissues with Mr. Linky…so I shall share with you what I posted yesterday anyway. It fits to unwrapping everyday “stuff.”
By the way…I wanted to mention that I was a Youth Director before I married into the military and began moving around the country. Then I would work in the Youth Dept at the churches that we went to while we were moving around.
I love your “family” occupation. Close to my heart.

What a wonderfully sweet post and picture
I always love coming to your site and seeing your pictures and posts! Sucha is true the a simple “weed” flower as the dandalion usually is from the sweetest giver…our children! Thank you for sharing! I don’t know that my post is considered unwrapped today, but I am revealing a new blog look and a great Birdie Bag giveaway! Stop by and enter if you’d like!
Hugs to you!

I’m so lovin’ this song. So I’m a little late.
Did you see this note from Mr. Linky? http://www.misterlinky.net/blog/?p=143
Definitely consider that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be at the internet the simplest factor to consider of. I say to you, I certainly get irked even as folks think about issues that they just don’t know about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top as neatly as defined out the entire thing without having side-effects , folks could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
