I know the truth about how God loves me and all, but it still continues to amaze me when stuff like this happens. You know my tendency to take myself too seriously? And worry? And get overwhelmed and broody? What? You don’t know that about me? Well. I was doing all that really well the other day. So I pulled out my camera while the kids were playing outside and began to look for the gifts. Because the day was feeling increasingly gift-less. And then the mail came.

Who in the world writes real letters anymore? It spoke to the very thing that had me spinning. And it set my dizzy day right again. So thank you, new friend. For thinking of me, for being excited with me, and for taking the time to say so. Her words were a gift to me that day. A small thing to her, but life-giving for me.

If you have a gift to share or a moment to celebrate, please do so by linking up below. Remember to link back here so your peeps know what it’s all about. Oh Emily – what a great reminder of the power of taking a few minutes to jot down a real note and actually mailing it.
So thrilled you were encouraged, and in turn, could encourage us. (Now…do I recognize the handwriting?
Oh the beauty of a handwritten note! I agree with Jen, what a great reminder for us to do the same…
I’m thrilled to see TU back and at ‘em! My gift this week was watching my youngest take his first steps. What a bittersweet moment – so proud, yet fighting back the tears as I watch him emerge from precious infancy, to independent one-year-old.
So, of course I unwrapped my gift by way of my lens. Looking forward to being inspired by everyone else! Happy Tuesday!
Handwritten letters are such treasures. How special you must have felt! I love Tuesdays Unwrapped – thanks for bringing it back!
Hurray for the hand-written letter. And for words of encouragement!
So glad to see Tuesdays Unwrapped is back. I’m linking up a post from last Tuesday where we ditched laundry for a play date with surf, sand and sky. Turns out it was the last warm sunny day we’ve had since then, so now I’m REALLY glad I seized the opportunity!
glad for your gift… so true about the treasure of a handwritten note.
I’ve posted about my day unwrapping as gift, while I don’t sleep in , they start very early now.
have a great one!
Wow, a real letter! Makes me want to write one.
I just got a hand-written letter last week, too! And have been meaning to sit down and write back for days now…sigh…i should make it happen today. thanks for pointing out the gifts!
oh how i love a handwritten letter… i love to guess the sender, even before opening the envelope or glancing at the return address. and what a special gift that letter was to your heart… or more, the heart behind the letter. yes… a gift.
seems we all love handwritten notes….get inspired on my Mr. Linky (One Nutty Girl) to do it today!
Do handwritten thank you notes count? It’s the only thing I can think of that I write *to* people, these days.
You lucky girl! What a treasure.
xoxoxoxox
I just got a handwritten letter from my grandmother yesterday. And even though I am so thankful for the convenience of keeping in touch with email, there is just something about a letter that is all about love and taking the time to remind someone you care about them.
I notice Utmost for His Highest in your picture. My favorite, this is my first time linking back to you for Tuesdays Unwrapped. Love your blog. Thanks for sharing!
I love getting handwritten notes, too. My bff Kat is so good about sending little notes even if she’s just sending pictures of the kiddos. I love that about her.
I have a sweet friend who writes the best notes, too. She’s also my friend who says, “Oh, I can’t imagine having time to blog. Who DOES that?” but I love her anyway.
And I just treasure those letters she writes.
I just love handwritten letters! Every once in awhile I try and send one to someone special in my life. So glad you received and appreciated one yourself
Isn’t it “amazing” how the unexpected word arrives to from out of the blue, exactly when needed! And thank God for the precious people in our lives who are willing to speak to us in the way He knows we will be able to hear!
m ^..^
only second to hand-written notes is beautiful, thick stationary in my favorite-things…
i still love getting mail! i’m so glad you found encouragement you needed today.
hey there. i’ve been waiting all day to link up.
finally…the camera came home, and i didn’t have to preserve the “gift” anymore.
I’m so glad Tuesday’s are back. You know how you mentioned in your Monday post that it just seems so much easier to find something when you’ll have someone to share it with? So true. So very true. So, I’m hoping to have something for next Tuesday. And I do love a handwritten letter. I heart them.
I linked above to a post about how my daughter is sleeping in her own crib at night. The post ends with me regretting how well she took to it (I secretly wish she’d needed me more), but I wanted to say here that it truly is a blessing and a gift, and I’m thankful that I have my marital bed back.
I love, love, love your attitude. And a handwritten letter? What a treasure!
Ah, there is nothing like a handwritten note to encourage us and lift us up when we need it most! Thanks for sharing your special moment with us!
Oh how good God is to us! How wonderful to receive a letter and for God to speak right to you through it. God, may You nudge us all to do the things that will let You speak to others through our words or actions. Amen.
I love getting real letters and cards in the mail. There’s something about the feel of the paper and seeing my name written across the envelope that makes me feel cared for.
I’m glad your dizzy day was righted. And I’m glad to be back at Tuesdays Unwrapped.
