That <i>"whole lotta day hanging out in the dark"</i> is my favorite part, too. It's quiet. No animals needing to be fed and watered. No husband needing coffee. Just me and God and our talks. I love it.

I love your rocking chair, too.

I stink at early mornings...and when life gets busy, my quiet time falls off the end of the list even though I am convinced of it's necessity for my soul. I love how you started your post. I'm convicted and inspired.

I love the early morning hours - unfortunately, I am out of the routine. My flesh fails me.

Emily I love that you posted this today. I was actually going to post a very similar one but then didn't get to it. But today my house was a mess - but I knew that I'd be a mess if I didn't spend time with my Lord - on my front porch - just resting with Him, loving Him, and learning from Him! Way to put 1st things 1st! He blesses us so much when we do!

Love you! And hey, do you have any specific prayer requests as you prepare for She Speaks? You just let me know if you do.

Reading these stories makes for warm fuzzies all over. Teri in Indiana- hugs to you! Thanks for sharing that God WANTS to bless us with things that we didn't even know we wanted. My heart has truly melted a little more tonight from reading your post. Thanks.

You wanted to know about miracles in our lives today?
Well, I have a biggie. I mean if I wasn't so afraid of heights I would be shouting this one from my rooftop right now. We had a foster baby placed with us a little over a year ago. Darling little 4 pound 14 ounces baby boy, 8 days old. Picked him at the NICU at a local hospital. It was love at first sight for me. BUT we have already adopted 8 other children, I'm not exactly in my 30's anymore and I promised my husband if I could take this one last baby to foster we would stop fostering as soon as he was returned home. 25 years is long enough to do this. God has held this baby through drug withdrawl, heart surgery, a few visits with his mother. My husband kept telling me not to get attached. Well, guess what? My husband prayed during his heart surgery, telling God that he would be here for The Little Man for as long as he needed us. Now those two are best buds and I am just the bottle warmer, diaper changer when Daddy is around. Today we got word that his Mother & Father are terminating their rights and we get to adopt him.
I didn't know I needed or wanted to be a new mommy again at my age. I didn't know I wanted to be blessed by this amazing special little boy. But Praise God! HE knew I needed it, wanted it & so graciously has opened that door one more time for us.

By far, my favorite time of day. Especially when I wake up with enough energy to actually enjoy the pristine quiet.

Thanks for the opportunity to slow down and sit quiet. A house bursting with four kids and two dogs is not quiet often, and so even just a moment of quiet is precious. I am linking today with a time lapse post:: July 13th, 2006-09. My baby is three now, and I know I will find a fellow mama here to share in the bittersweetness of babies growing up. Enjoy this day!!

I struggle with getting up early to spend that sweet quiet time alone-- but boy, oh boy, does my day go a lot more smoothly when I do. Thanks for the reminder-- and the challenge. :)
