from messy to lovely

glitter

When you tell your kids they can do any craft they want, just know they will choose the glitter. I got smart the day I took this photo and sent them outside, but the day before that they did this same thing in the kitchen. We have glitter in our biscuits, on our pillows, in our teeth. Three days later, there is still a pile of blue and gold and silver sparkling on the patio. I went to rinse it off, but chose to unwrap it instead, a sweet reminder of enjoying the moment and being a kid.

I would love for you to share your stories, snapshots and simple moments of thankfulness. Link up below to the post you would like to share and link back here. Click here for more details about Tuesdays Unwrapped.

glitter, glue, confetti, beads–if it’s not messy, my kids don’t love it!

  2. Sandy Toes says:

The messier the better around here…I chuckled with the glitter in the biscuits…how cute! Doing crafts outside is a perfect idea!

  3. So true! What is it about glitter that has such appeal?? It MUST be the mess it makes that draws them to it. :-)
I can’t see the picture yet on your post, but I can most certainly imagine the glittery gift you’ve unwrapped today.

oh, craft mess !! You are a brave mom.
I added my post from my Green Acres blog, the part-time muddier me.
Looking forward to reading all the entries later.

  5. Glitter– what more is there to say? You eat it , you breathe it, you choke on it. It just never goes away!

  6. Erin says:

glitter in the biscuits– that is awesome. Good for you for finding joy in the messy. :)

  7. Dawn says:

glitter does seem to linger, doesn’t it!
but it does add sparkle to an ordinary day :)

  8. Kellye says:

Egad! I *hate* glitter because of that very reason! It gets everywhere! But I do suppose that one day will come that I’ll happen upon one small speck of glitter and long for the days when it was ever so present in our lives.

  9. Sarah says:

I already feel as though some of those moments are slipping away…and mine are only 3 and 5. Gone are the days of finding a binky stashed into an unlikely spot and gone are the days of teeny baby socks tangled in the laundry.

  10. glitter outside is genius!

  11. Sissy says:

Okay, I have never linked on a tuesday before, because I haven’t had anything worthwhile to post. But today I do!

  12. Jes says:

I can’t tell you how many times my husband has tried to outlaw glitter in the house. . .BEFORE my daughter was born ;)

I’m really loving your blog, thanks for sharing!

  13. Sharone says:

I think it’s the messy part of glitter that makes it fun. Oh, how it clings to everything! Good for you for choosing to see joy in the glitter you find everywhere :)

  14. adornedlife says:

The best place to find glitter is on your pillowcase…a sure sign the tooth fairy has visited!

  15. Kat says:

I like how your son made sure his shirt and shorts were not too matchy matchy ;) My son does the same thing. Just something else to Unwrap….

  16. Emily says:

What a beautiful picture of your children playing so nicely. All sitting down! I’m sure that only lasted for a few seconds! I love “free art” with my son and it always seems to involve glitter and paint. The last time with had free art with paint, I turn around and he is painting his arms and face and legs and with the cutest grin on his face says “look mommy….sunscreen!” Ahhhh kids!

  17. dawn says:

I used mister linky for the first time ever…and this rookie goofed up. sorry for the double entry up there…

    thanks for your blog–love it!

  18. Emily,
I wrote a post today that I felt inspired to write because you so encourage us to unwrap the present. Perhaps I didn’t understand your message quite as well before as I do now. Thanks for giving me the reminder and the play on words that fit so appropriately. You are such an inspiration, and I appreciate you far more than you may know from all the miles that separate the likes of this bloggy-devotee. Many blessings as you prepare for the days ahead!
    In Him,
    Karin
