I see a bike that needs to be righted and rolled into the garage.

They see chocolate and vanilla swirl with sprinkles and whipped cream.

And I am swept quickly away into their imaginary world where bike pedals churn grass and air into heaping helmets full of their favorite treat.

Ice cream sundae anyone?

Love this! I remember doing the EXACT same thing as a kid! Oh, the sweet, blessed, happy childhood memories!!!
Yum!
Seriously, Emily? Oh my goodness, does that warm my heart. The wonder of childhood imagination….they get it from their mommy.
I did the same thing when I was little. I thought it was just me…!
No wonder Jesus tells us we need to become like little children. This reminds me to pray that God will restore my sense of awe and wonder.
Thank you for sharing your incredible photos and your beautiful words.
I’m pretty sure that I too did something similar to this. I love your girls’ imaginations!
They were spinning wheels for me…
How do all kids know that when you turn a bike upside down you can make ice cream? Or yarn?
Emily I love this!! So glad you got pictures of them playing this way. My boys do this (but usually the pedals are sawing wood or shaving metal) and I have never gotten a picture of it. I really like how you juxtaposed how you saw it first — really makes their creativity appear that much more dramatic. I love it.
I used to do this when I was little too. Uncanny how all little girls seem to know that your bicycle can double as a Dairy Queen!
so beautiful. so fun to get a peek at these two at “work” in their fun play.
those are my kind of girls… dreaming in ice cream!
This takes me back to Texas when I was about 9. Palm leaf brooms and rubber plant leaf salads… and so few cares.
I’m so there!! Love it!! And I love ice cream!
My boys do this, except they call it “making lemonade”!
I remember the day that I realized I saw the world as an adult and couldn’t pretend like your girls are. I just wanted to cry. I miss the world of mud pies, leaf playhouses and hiding under trees and writing rhyming poetry.
What wonderful imaginations
The perfect images of childhood.
Ahhh…so sweet! At least it was in the helmet and not one of your shoes:)!
sandy toe
I totally made bike pedal ice cream as a kid. Love it.
Sandy
so cute. my kids do this too, sort of. we don’t have a lot of leaves but they make due. =)
what a really beautiful story told in photos!
ur so creative
I love those imaginations! You never know what they will come up with next! So cute!!
Imagination fascinates me. I wonder at what point it is that we really lose it?
I remember doing things like this when I was a kid. It’s amazing how that creativity gets sapped as you age.
Thank you Lord, for children who keep life simple and rewarding!
Delicious.
Precious! The imagination of a child is a beautiful thing.
Great blog by the way, your pictures are amazing!
the perfect thing is that you recognized it and went with their inspiration!
