slowing

There are currently 10,339 photos on my computer. Needless to say, it’s running slooow. Slow is being forced on me against my will.

The blog is slow today, too. Thank you for your emails letting me know of the errors going on over here. I had no idea. I said out loud to myself that I feel more like I’m howling at the moon than chatting at the sky. And I thought I was so funny. Another forced slowing.

I don’t like traffic slow or phone slow or computer slow. But all slow isn’t bad. I crave soul slow. Perhaps if I find a way to fit some soul space into waiting for the page to load, I would be in a better place. Until then, I’ll be moving photos onto my hard drive, like the one of this cutie-patootie senior above.

Here’s to slowing down. I  look forward to doing so with you tomorrow for Tuesdays Unwrapped.

it is hard to have forced slowness… in this mamas-gotta-get-things-done kind of life… i am a run, run, run kind of girl, and a slow walker or a loading page just gets to me, too. but now that you have given the idea out loud, maybe i will be making time for that soul space next time i am waiting…

    The Slows.

I’m a yankee born and partly raised in Detroit where if you didn’t run everywhere you might be mugged or caught in the crossfire. And then I married a Southern boy who is caught in a Brian Time Warp at least 6 times weekly. He taught me a lot about slowing down. And I’m very thankful for that lesson.

    Most of the time.

I love slow. I’m the one holding up traffic on the freeway, but at least I stick to the right lane. :)

As for digital images, I try to keep mine stored online or on CD’s or flash drives, but they seem to multiply while I’m sleeping.

way cute dress! going on a cruise next year and now I shall be in search of one like it! or will be begging my mom to make it ;)
trying to shake the feeling of guilt when things are slow – like I am not being productive unless I am going 75 miles per hour. not good.

  6. Malia says:

Slow is good. My body needs it sometimes and always feels better when I let it happen. Maybe your computer is telling you something.
    Great senior picture you took.

“Slowing down”… I think those words hurt my brain… can’t say them out loud, it hurts my ears! Sometimes a ‘forced slowing’ is probably just what we need. But until then… !! ;)

  8. sandy says:

I’m having SLOW issues too, with all my photos and Paul’s …

But the other kind of slowing down is GOOD. I need more of it.

    Hugs!

I’m realizing that slow isn’t so bad… it takes so much time to realize that though!
    What a beautiful photo.

  10. I often forget to slow down and then a good ol’ virus comes along and reminds me :)
Ive enjoyed my last two slow days on the couch sacked out with the kids watching silly cartoons. Slow is good :) And thats why I love your Tuesdays :)

  12. found my macbook slowing.. finally moved my entire iPhoto library to an external hard drive… what an amazing difference!

Not being a mother, I can’t relate to what you’re saying because sometimes I have too much me time. I often dream of times taking care of little ones, of doing crafts, of giving baths and reading stories before bed, of saying no a hundred zillion times in the grocery store when they want to have Cocoa Puffs and chocolate milk for breakfast. I can, however, confirm that every friend of mine that is a mother struggles with the same thing you find yourself feeling. I think it’s wonderful to love others so much that you tend to put yourself last. I think it’s even more wonderful that you recognize that you need to be well off in order to continue the care you so lovingly provide to them. Sometimes, everyone needs a little “me” time. Enjoy it.

I’m slowed against my will on the computer right now too. Pictures are the culprit for me too. Sigh. I hate putting them on the external hard drive because I feel like they are such a pain to retrieve once they are filed away. But, I must. If I ever want my computer to run at it’s normal speed again!
