At the risk of forcing a local weather update on you for a state you don’t live in, I’m posting this to simply say expectations are everything. I’m glad I got the screen shot of Christmas snow predictions last week. Twenty minutes after I posted that, the forecast changed to rain.
As we enter into this Christmas week, I’m reminded how expectations play a vital role in my holiday experience. Snow or no snow, I’m encouraged to remember simple truth this week: Jesus came. A thrill of hope for a weary world, He was born and He lived and He died and He rose up again. Snow or no snow, that is a truth I can grab onto.

It could change back to snow again by the time Friday rolls around. At least that is what happens in Michigan. You really never know, until you look outside, what the weather is going to be.
Yes’m. Can you imagine how it must have felt to Zachariah, as he waited, speechless, to see if the forecast that Elizabeth would have a child would be true? And when he finally spoke again, it was to make a prophecy of his own.
Hallelujah that those prophecies were real and true. Our world is fickle in so many ways, including the weather. Thank God for His steafastness. And for the truth of Christmas. And for that matter, for those who are still willing to go tell it on the mountain–like you.
Amen!
And if it’s snow you need, come on up and visit us in Nebraska!
Amen, Sister!
me too! me too! me too!
because the chance of snow here in sw florida is pretty slim
merry christmas!
So true! We can never count on the weather here in Charlotte. Uuuuggghh! I wish we got more snow! But we do have one thing that never changes….Jesus!
i join the “amen chorus”…Hope HAS come!
I grew up in sunny southern CA; and always dreamed of a white Christmas. I just imagined all the fun I would have in the snow. We moved to Utah 5 years ago and have had a white Christmas each year. It is so pretty and peaceful and pristine. BUT I would trade back to my sunny Christmas in a heartbeat! There is nothing like capri pants and rainbows for dress attire! Either way, Merry Christmas!
Amen.
If that is not our hope and our focus – Christmas expectations can really throw a mom out of wack. Thanks for the truth reminders. Don’t lose heart.
Love this post! Amen girl! And I from the deep South and was soooo hoping for snow. We don’t get to see it enough!
could you help me find the picture of bethlehem that was used on the incourage site? I looked at the dayspring site and still couldnt’ find it. thanks
I hope you had a very Merry Christmas. I held on to the hope of your original forecast until Christmas morning when I stood in the pouring rain and willed the sky to turn white.
Didn’t work. I only got really wet. But it did give me a lovely excuse to take a hot bath before gifts were open.
And that made me smile.
