tuesdays unwrapped

“When a bad thing happens, let the ugly pass. Don’t stare at it. Keep your eyes on the beauty that will follow in its wake like a skier behind a boat. Keep your eyes on the rope. The skier will soon appear, smiling and beaming with good news.” -Roy Williams, The Wizard of Ads®

I don’t know if every single moment in life carries with it a gift. But I do know that I usually find what I’m looking for. If I’m looking for a blessing, I will always find one. If I’m looking for a curse – well, I’ll find that, too. I get to choose what I focus on. That is why we come here on Tuesdays. To notice on purpose the small things hiding in secret places or the beauty that comes after the bad.

Is there some small thing you are celebrating today? Is there a different perspective than the one you’ve been holding on to? We would love to hear about it. Find the gift and then unwrap it. If you would like to participate but haven’t before, go here to see the guidelines. Be sure to use the permalink to your unwrapped post or your link will be deleted, and be sure to link back here.

Thank you for these Tuesdays unwrapped. I love your writing & look forward to reading your blog, especially on Tuesdays. I don’t have a blog and wanted to participate by sharing a little moment here in the comments.

This morning, after dropping my 5 year old daughter off at school, as I was getting back in the car, I glanced in the backseat and really noticed how she had carefully positioned her favorite stuffed animal in her booster seat. That little stuffed animal is well loved and has been her favorite since she was a baby. It goes everywhere with us. Everyday she positions it just so, and knows that it will be waiting for her in the car when I pick her up from school. In some ways my daughter seems so independent and grown up (I swear she can have the attitude of a teenager sometimes!). Someday in the future I know she will outgrow this stuffed animal. But for now, I am appreciating this reminder that she is still little and loving how careful and gentle she is with her treasured possessions.

  12. you mean i’m not supposed to crane my neck at car wreck? i can’t rehash and dwell on ugly things said? i’m supposed to just walk away? do you know how hard that is? and why exactly is it so hard? is it because we are trained to live in the mud and we know next to nothing about a palace?

    I really enjoy “Tuesdays Unwrapped”.
It’s been great fun trying to come up with something to
write about. And it’s been a healing experience.
    Thank you.

    Emily,
I can’t seem to get your button for my blog. When I right click on the html, I don’t get anything!! Of course, I am the world’s worst computer person, so this should come as no surprise. Is there something I’m doing wrong? I also had to type in my url address for my post link today because I couldn’t paste mine in. I wonder if there’s something wrong with my computer?
Anywho……I’ve really enjoyed being part of tuesdays unwrapped. Thank you so much.
