“Yes, of course I gave him the silverware.
But why didn’t you take the candlesticks? That was very foolish of you.”
-The Bishop to Jean Valjean, Les Miserables

You know, Emily, I’ve never watched Les Miserables. I know, I know–how can I have lived and not seen it? But I haven’t. So watching this clip was more than just a sweet reminder for me. It was more of a lightning bolt.
Dear God, what a message. Thank you for sharing it.
Love you.

Ok, I am the second person listed here who has not seen this movie … or read the book. I’ll be doing both soon. Thank you, that was amazing!
This touched my husband and
i deeply—we needed to hear this—sending God’s blessing to you. SS
I was 16 years old when I read this book as a junior in high school. Immediately, it became my favorite book and remains so to this day. I remember sitting on my parents’ bed as I finished it, weeping. I didn’t know a thing about grace then and I was too young to understand the many layers Victor Hugo used to spin his tale; I was simply captivated by a great story about universal human truths. This makes me want to pick that book up again.
So great to see you and your sweet sis on Saturday, even though it was ever so brief! And funny that I may now own some of your old clothes, jewelry and housewares. : )

Oh my goodness. This brought me to tears. Ironically, I initially thought, “Why did she just post a video?” Ha! Little did I know the power of the scene in that video. I’ve not seen Les Miserables, though I’ve wanted to for many years. You just inspired me to do so. What an amazing and beautiful picture of what Jesus did for us.

Les Mis is my favorite Broadway show! I’ve seen it 2ce and have read the book! The story line of Redemption & Grace is so powerful & true! Thank you so much for the reminder.
After my college roommate brought home the Les Mis musical on CD, I rushed out to buy the book. I didn’t go to class or eat. I just read the book (obsessed much?). Twice. It made that strong of an impression on me. I still cry every time I read the “I bought your soul for God” scene. The Bishop is God’s love personified.
This is my favorite Broadway show…I have seen it three times! Possibly the best story ever!!!!!!

Oh wow, I remember seeing this movie, but I guess life events cause it to hit home much stronger now. I’m in tears. It makes me think of the cross and how very much Christ loves us. Grace doesn’t get more real than that, a truly undeserved gift given freely. So wonderful! Thanks Emily
Awesome!
