rosie & finn

I hate to have to do this, but I’m writing another dog post. I don’t know what’s next after this. Will I set a place for Finn at the table? Let him lick me on the mouth? Who can say. Well, I can. I can say. I will not set a place for him at the table. But I will let him have a play date with his sister.

As soon as they got out of their car, I knew we were gonna have fun. I mentioned last weekend that Finn’s sister was coming to have a visit. They’ve not seen each other since they forged their way through the dark of night, warding off predators and scrounging for food as puppies alone in the harsh world. I wasn’t sure what to expect from her, and  I was a little worried she would be demure and delicate and Finn would eat her for second breakfast. But Rosie showed up equally energetic, half his size and ready to play. She didn’t have a pink bow between her ears, she made up for it with her pink, puffy jacket.

They wrestled for an hour and chased and barked and had way too much fun. I completely believe they recognized each other. If you want to see the entire ridiculous photo album, it is here on Facebook. I can’t imagine that you would be busy or otherwise occupied 2 days before Christmas. Really.

  2. It is pretty amazing that he is so much bigger than her…and that they recognised one another. I took Max back to his mom and sisters when he was six months old and they snarled at him and wouldn’t play!! fantastic that yours played so well! Have a Merry Christmas…abounding in joy and laughter! (and play!)

Oh, my goodness. . . how much puppy adorableness can there be in one family? I’m off to check Facebook!!

Love you, sweet dog mama. And just for the record, I’d let Finn kiss me on the mouth.

I clicked. Of course, you knew I would. That looked like an absolutely fun time and the dogs are so cute. I’m glad you had fun, and I do love a dog post, so I don’t mind at all.

I am a crazed dog,er, critter person. And I LOL’d at the idea of you, who caved on the pup, setting him a place at the table. I’ve never done that, but I did have a GreatDane mix who was sure if a chair was pulled out,it was for her. When we went to the vet &she was instructed to sit, would it be on the floor? Nooooo-in the office chair right next to me. She was the entertainment, as her youngest “sister” has proved to be (pitty/boxer). And I am sure you will assign me to the crazy bin for how I spoil the feral cats in my neighborhood-dog house with straw, cedar, blankets&pillows, scrambld eggs mixed with canned food on these bitter nights, warm milk, and yes, “hot sockies”-tubesox filled with rice and microwaved to warm them late at night. I thought my neighbors would call the guys in the white coats, but they realized it was mommas bringing just-weaned babies, and they’ve gone so far as to team up with an elderly outwardly grumpy gent to bury any hit by cars or lost some way in the meanness of the city. It’s worth it. ;) -s-

I NEVER get tired of dog posts. Especially ones that are close to my heart like this one is. We have Jonathan, a Golden Retriever/Border Collie (we think) mix, and our very good friends have his brother, Skip. They have a similar story to Rosie’s and Finn’s, and we used to get them together to play every once in a while. Until Skip became very territorial when Jonathan would come over, then it was like they both became werewolves. They don’t get to see each other any more and it makes me sad. Seeing Rosie and Finn playing together makes me wish the brothers got along. : )

I am SUCH a dog person.

  11. I have a pup the age of Finn and I have a much older, much bigger dog, Pluto (10 year old 110 pound, yellow lab!) They play together like crazy! Bogey chases Pluto around snarling and barking, keeps the old one moving a bit! Then they crash exhausted and snuggle up to one another…
    So sweet!
