And so you venture out, face set like a flint in the direction of influence. You have every good intention, until … your job ends, your heart breaks, your friends are not who you thought they were. How can we change the world when the world works so hard to change us? Explore this brokenness with me at (in)courage?
We are now about half way through 31 days to Change the World. Read from the beginning here. If you would like to get Chatting at the Sky delivered into your inbox, subscribe here for free.

Oh my Hoosier heart – I love that photo!
I am a 67 year-old retiree and widow who just read my first Change the World on Day 15 – know your brokenness. This phase of my life includes “walking on water together, you and I”, but I don’t know what that looks like yet. And, yes, brokenness is part of His plan for me. I am beginning my 30-day journey by going back and reading days 1 through 14. I believe God would have me write about “Water Walkin’ “, so I’m stepping out in faith not knowing where it will lead. Retirement is a whole new world in itself, so I am taking baby steps, falling in pits at times, and climbing mountains at other times. What a journey this will be! Perhaps it is Change My World. Thanks for your wisdom and obedience to the lord!
I’ve so enjoyed your postings on this 31 days of change – I have to admit I was hesitant about your subject when I first say what you were subject matter – I’m a shy, quiet girl who is much more comfortable being my herself than reaching out to the world, so I wasn’t sure how much I could relate to. But I have to admit I was surprised, amazed by your writings and found so much that I could pull from and take with me as I went about each day. You have an incredible gift for writing – I purchased your book too and am looking forward to reading that as well. I didn’t know what I was going to do at the end of these 30 days of writing – I’m glad I have your book to start on next! Your words, and the words of others I’ve found through this challenge, have really inspired and strengthened me, thank you!
Embracing brokenness leads to so many beautiful things – compassion for yourself and others, understanding and ultimately love. More love, understanding and compassion is what the world needs – this truly is a world changing perspective. Thanks for sharing.
