for your weekend

finn and coffeeMay your weekend be filled with quiet gifts, kind companions, and unexpected surprises. May you know how fully you are accepted and how deeply you are loved so that you may fully accept and deeply love others. May you take a break from anxiety just for the day. If you miss it, you can always pick it up again on Monday. Enjoy your weekend, friends.

Emily, thank you for these weekend posts. They’re such a great reminder to stop, pay attention to God’s grace and to the little beautiful things around me. I really appreciate them.

I was on my school’s spiritual retreat this weekend, where most of the “sessions” of the weekend were spent in quiet restful moments. It was blissful to get away from school and stress and just relax in His presence.

The above line from your post hit me hard. One of the things God has been working on w/ me is letting my walls/guards down I’ve had up for so long against love, so He can truly, deeply love me. It’s such a struggle to let my guard down, but He continually kept throwing it back at me, from the music picked, to words my friends and bosses said, to the book I chose to bring to read (Captivating by John & Stasi Eldredge), to a random quote from Brennan Manning that Jon Acuff posted on Facebook- I’ve finally just said, “God I get it already!” It’s almost comical. So thanks for your words, they had an impact on my struggles today:)

PS, as I’m typing this, Grace for the Good Girl is being shipped to my dorm! Got my 1st paycheck from my job, and decided it was going to be my 1st purchase :-)
